In Collaboration with Marissa Benedict
H.YL.O.Z.O.I.S.M. is a collaborative research project in collaboration with Marissa Benedict that explored, among other things, Joseph Beuys, the material movement of Chicago and its history, the lifestyle of urban coyotes, diving for anaerobic microbes, how to make a spark-gap communications jammer, and of course, antiquated theories about the mindfullness of matter (hylozoism). This research culminated in an installation in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Sullivan Gallery. A writing project–a catalog of the exhibition and the process–is forthcoming.
